Occasionally a company doing a good job will cause damage that outweighs the good they do. Pest-Tec controls pests. For that they get a 5 star rating.HOWEVER they allowed a criminal to take my check off their desk and use that info to break into my bank account. SO ...For neglecting to protect my information, I go with minus 4 stars...UPDATE 1/17/25 We were told initially that the check was taken off the desk. I just got a call to inform me that the check was taken out of the desk that was locked. So the story changes.My comment to Pest Tec just now on the phone was "The check should have been in a safe." The message I was given was that this wasn't neglect, it was a theft. OK so maybe I should drop back to taking only 3 stars... They were trying.On the other hand, I would suggest that is debatable, as to whether this is neglect. How much care is a customers information due?Rather than just It was a theft, not our neglect... I think it would have been nice to hear "We are sorry that this caused you so much trouble. We have taken steps to make certain it will not happen again. We have a new safe, we have installed a burglar alarm and cameras in addition to better locks on our building." They seem to have no care at all about the trouble caused. They seem to have no concern for the mishap, no comment that this has been taken care of... So, I don't know if things have been improved or not, so, I'm going to stay with my initial -4 stars for this whole mess.My bank stopped the criminal from taking my life savings. They closed the account. I got home from vacation and problems started showing up.Bills went unpaid. Power, water, gas, phone, internet, car insurance, home insurance, liability coverage, my doctor, my pharmacy, Lowes... Pension and Social Security checks were not deposited. Medicare payments were not made... Credit cards went overdue.Insurance cancelation notices for home, cars, the RV we were traveling in, the Jeep we were pulling.Cryptic letters from Medicare threatened to end our medical coverage or make us pay higher rates for the rest of our lives...Each took 5,6,7,8 calls to even get through...I think I spent a week on the phone.Our local insurance agent got things fixed. BUT headquarters in Atlanta had problems and started sending us notices that payments were overdue and our policy would be canceled...Social Security must be using 50 year old computers. They say that it will take a few MONTHS to get our checks going again...Did you know that Social Security is close to impossible to talk to? "Wait times are in excess of 120 minutes." Try the local office. They are much easier to get to.Bottom line, my wife was ready to demand that Pest-Tec give us a years service for free. I think she changed that to two years after month of calling people... This one instance of neglect caused us countless hours of phone calls, unimaginable confusion in talking with more than a dozen organizations to reconnect more than 20 accounts...If you read through this, thanks. I SERIOUSLY suggest that you make some notes about how each of your bills is being paid, withaccount and phone numbers, handy IDs and passwords to0.The pest service is great. However, I cannot think of another company, human, or animal that has aggravated me quite like this.... That beaver that chewed up the teakwood deck on my boat comes close, and I was advised to shoot him. (No, I didn't kill the beaver.)I read this review to my wife. She agrees and added the thought that we contacted them and they have not said one word indicating that they are in the least bit concerned with the trouble they have caused, not a recognition, not an apology, not an offer to reduce our charges, not even a fruit cake at Christmas... Here we are at January 17th 2025 and at least they have called, but only to say ...not our problem, it was a theft.
